Reading roundup 19/02/25

Well, Wednesday has arrived swiftly once again and it’s time for me to write this week’s Reading Roundup post. Yet again I have to admit that I haven’t been able to read my ebook! My brain is simply too overloaded and I cannot concentrate enough to immerse myself in the story. I do hope that, by the time I am able to resume reading, I haven’t forgotten the plot!

I definitely feel like I have “lost the plot” at times!

What I have been doing, when I am not sorting out house moving, is re-watching one of my favourite TV shows, based on one of my favourite book series: The Expanse. I was really sad when the final series ended before covering the last books. Anyway, I saw some great news this week: the authors of The Expanse, pen name James S A Corey, have published a new book:

The Mercy of Gods by James S A Corey

I am so excited to see this! The book is The Mercy of Gods, #01 The Captive’s War. I have ordered the ebook from Amazon and this is the blurb…

“From the New York Times bestselling author of the Expanse comes a spectacular new space opera that sees humanity fighting for its survival in a war as old as the universe itself. Invasion is only the beginning . . .

The Carryx – part empire, part hive – has waged wars of conquest for centuries, destroying or enslaving species across the galaxy in its conflict with an ancient and deathless enemy.

When they descend on the isolated world of Anjiin, the human population is abased, slaughtered and put in chains. The best and brightest are abducted, taken to the Carryx world-palace to join prisoners from a thousand other species.

Dafyd Alkhor, assistant to a prestigious scientist, is captured along with his team. Even he doesn’t suspect that his peculiar insight and skills will be the key to seeing past their captors ‘ terrifying agenda.

Swept up in a conflict beyond his control and vaster than his imagination, Dafyd is poised to become humanity’s champion – and its betrayer.

This is where his story begins.”

I can’t wait to read it!  Let’s hope that my ability to concentrate returns very soon. I have such a huge collection of ebooks waiting for me and I really need to get my brain working again.

Happy Reading to you all!

Love and best wishes,

Anne
