This is not the usual Wednesday Reading Roundup post. That’s because I haven’t been able to read a book for quite a few days. And that’s because we moved into our new home just over a week ago! I have been unpacking boxes and trying to find sensible places to put our stuff, then collapsing into bed at the end of the day.

To be honest, I must admit that I’m rather pleased with the amount of work I have been able to do. I have to be careful and bear in mind my multiple health issues so that I don’t try to do too much. There have been a lot of ups and downs but we are slowly getting to know our new place and how we, and our possessions, fit into it.

I have found a lot of pleasure in seeing how our new purchases of furniture and equipment work. The washing machine and dryer are so complicated but really efficient. The bedding choices are lovely, though I still need to put up the new curtains (we are managing with blinds).

OK, there have been difficult moments. Moving house is definitely one of the most stressful events in life, even if you have only moved a little over a mile away. Mix in an ageing couple with health and memory problems and a son with ASD and OCD… well, you can understand that life doesn’t always go smoothly!

Our new bedroom is decorated in shades of purple. So, I have chosen bedding and curtains that work with that colour scheme. As I have to take a huge load of meds each day, I store them in a box. Until this week I used an old shoe box. Well, I decided to treat myself to something much prettier, and here it is…

I found this box on Amazon: Scented Violet Box by Lavatelli. The company also sells quite a large range of attractive and cute boxes and they have their own website. I might get a few more!

Right, I definitely need a rest now. I have been unpacking crockery and glassware into the dresser in between supervising the washing and am really tired. A pot of tea and a biscuit have just appeared!
