So, I hope you all had a very good Christmas and that the New Year has begun well for you. We had a very quiet and simple “holiday” period, with some sadness because Younger Son was unable to visit because of the rather sudden last minute change to the rules by the Government! We now haven’t seen him for more than a year.
As usual, I will share my Christmas presents here. First of all, I was fortunate to receive this cute “High Tea” necklace and earrings by Pixiewing from Elder Son, and also my favourite Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish from Younger Son. The jewellery is such fun and also highly appropriate, given my addiction to tea! The cleanser and cloths should help get my skin into better condition.

Christmas presents 2020
You may remember that my gorgeous Plumes en Fête shawl was partly a birthday and Christmas present from Lovely Husband, so I have yet another excuse to show it here! On my really bad days, I snuggle up in bed with this shawl around my shoulders and I immediately feel lifted from the gloom.

Hermès’ Plumes en Fête shawl (H243433S 04)
Thinking about my Hermès scarf collection, I am not sure whether to continue to collect the 90cm silks or whether to save up for another hugely expensive shawl. Or, perhaps, I could stop buying scarves altogether. After all, I must have enough by now!
Love and best wishes,
Anne

PS. Many thanks to those of you who have sent lovely messages over the holiday period XXX.
Dear Anne,
Happy New Year to you. I pray it will be a better year for all of us.
Your Christmas gifts are lovely. I am so charmed with the witty jewelry gift! And Plumes en Fete is a stunner. I do not own it (yet) but seeing it modeled by you and others, it must be one of Hermès’ most desired designs.
I hear you on the conversation with one’s self – “more 90s or other formats?” I have recently become a huge fan of the Giant Triangle format, and I adore the 70 dize abd gavs. But I still continue to buy 90s!
Have a great start to the year and sending you good cheer.

Happy new year Anne.
What wonderful, thoughtful gifts you received. It’s hard not to be with loved ones, isn’t it?
Like you, I have one shawl (from 10 years ago). I find I rarely wear it as the amount of fabric overwhelms me due to stature. This year I had several on my wish list that I almost purchased (including Plumes), but stopped myself. Instead I’ve been on a streak of men’s 100 scarves. Inspired by your Sweet Dreams, I’m now on my fourth colorway of this scarf. Because of the climate where I live, I use these for all months of the year except maybe July and August. So, thank you for that!
I will still acquire 90’s as that is my favorite. I actually ended up with two colorways of Plumes this year. A first for me…and now I have four of the Sweet Dreams! I love the 100 format and the drape of the wool silk blend is perfect.
What I’m looking at instead of a shawl is a blanket. Excellent for snuggling up with and beautifully constructed. Can be used in a multitude of ways around the house. I’ve been doing quite a bit of chair, sofa and bed time lately. Maybe this is a thought for you as well?
Take care. Here’s to a better 2021.
