Well, it’s one big problem really! Today’s post isn’t going to be about gorgeous scarves or pretty outfits, unfortunately, so if you have arrived at my blog looking for that kind of content, you might want to read some of my other posts. The sidebar will help you find them. I promise that scarves, jewellery and outfits are the focus of a lot of my content on here!
It all began yesterday afternoon. We had a visit from a technician to upgrade our electricity and gas meters to smart ones. Our power provider had informed us that this necessary work would be quick and simple. Except it wasn’t. The technician installed the meters and then told us that he had detected a tiny gas leak. Nothing dangerous, but it was there.
But exactly where was it? He looked and looked but couldn’t find it anywhere. So, new regulations that only came into force on October 1st meant that he had to turn our gas supply off. Completely! And that meant that we would not have any central heating, or hot water, or the use of our hob, until the leak was found and fixed.
Lovely Husband freaked out and I did my best to try to find someone who could do the work (the technician was not trained to do it). To cut this long story short, we did use a service that we pay for annually to get a more expert gas engineer, who came over this morning. This time I was freaking out and LH handled things. The new gas chap also searched everywhere and came to the conclusion that we need totally new pipe work between the meter and our appliances (the boiler and the hob). Because we are classed as a vulnerable household due to our infirmities, we have an appointment with this service for Monday.
Unfortunately, I have had to cancel the cleaning company who were due to come on Monday as well because we didn’t think they would be able to work around the gas people!
Now, older visitors to this blog may remember this famous song…
I do hope it doesn’t turn out like the song!
Anyway, let’s hope that it is all sorted on Monday and that we can reschedule the cleaning company.
Happy Weekend everyone!
Love and best wishes,
Anne
