Outfit of the day 18-20/01/17

Everything has been in a right old state for a few days, which is why I have not been posting. I will catch up in this post.

On Wednesday, I had to take Lovely Husband to hospital for another set of procedures. Well, although it turned out OK in the end and he will be fine in the long-term, the day itself was absolutely dreadful. The NHS staff were wonderful as ever, but the whole thing took over eight long hours! In truth, I was far too ill to go with him, but I felt that I couldn’t let him down and he needed me to drive him home. I managed, just, but collapsed when we got home with the most painful headache of all time. I went to bed early, but was up with D&V in the night (sorry if TMI)!

Anyway, this was the outfit I wore to the hospital. Once again, I mixed up browns and dark blue, inspired by this wonderful “Tyger, Tyger” scarf, designed by Alice Shirley for Hermès:

  • Bronze cashmere cardigan – Pure Collection (mine is a v neck).
  • Dark navy cotton short-sleeved top – Lands’ End.
  • Navy jeans – Klass.
  • Silk scarf – 90cm – Tyger Tyger in a cowboy cowl knot – Hermès.
  • Crystal earrings.
  • Oxford blue leather bracelet – Ferragamo.
  • Tan leather ankle boots – Clarks.
  • Caramel leather handbag – Peony and Moore (no longer trading).

Thursday was spent recovering in bed. At least the headache and other issues of the night before stopped, but I felt extremely weak and shaky. I managed to eat a little and had copious cups of tea, naturally. I also managed to finish the book that I had taken to the hospital – “Dead Silent” by Neil White. I have rated it and written a basic review on Goodreads.

I had been reading “The Silent Wife” by ASA Harrison, but have put that on hold for a day or two as I have got a bit bogged down with it. This is probably because I committed the cardinal sin of skipping forwards – naughty, naughty me!

Today (Friday) has been another pyjama day as I have been terribly ill all day. I woke up with extremely painful acid reflux, which took hours to calm down. Then, I developed a dreadful choking cough. I am finishing writing this post at around 17.00. The cough has calmed down, but I feel very weak and shaky. I was unable to take all my meds this morning, so am possibly suffering from that, but hope to be able to take the usual doses this evening as usual. Hopefully, things will get better over the weekend and I will post as usual on Monday.

One other matter: the Lands’ End order that I sent off last week actually arrived on Saturday morning.

I tried everything on straight away. The white vest is great with a really nice, thick fabric and a good, long length. The two t-shirts are fine, the colours are just right but the fabric is thinner and the fit is very boxy. They will be OK for the summer.

I am not sure about the trousers, though. My shape these days is a bit peculiar, with too much of a tummy, and so the fit is a bit odd, although the colour is spot on and I like the material. I will have to try them on again and get my chaps to give me their opinions. So, we will see.

Sorry you were so unwell, that is awful. Your outfit is fab, the Tyger Tyger in the colourway you chose is fantastic, and the caramel cardigan.
