Outfit of the day 28/03/17

The lovely weather over the weekend really helped to boost my mood and also seemed to give me some extra strength. I was able to start my plan of trying to follow some of the ideas from the rehab course that I did some years ago at our local hospital. On Friday I managed to walk to the Post Office and back at a reasonably brisk pace – only a few minutes, but it was a start. LH took me to the library to pick up some reservations on Saturday afternoon and we then went on to have a coffee and a walk at the garden centre. It was so warm that we actually sat outside without coats on, which felt really lovely and uplifting.

On Sunday, the lads were at work, so they gave me Mothering Sunday cards and presents when they got home and spoiled me all evening with cups of tea, treats and cuddles. So sweet of them! During the afternoon, I managed another walk and got a bit further than the post office before turning back. As LH used to be a PE teacher, he is very hot on making sure I don’t overdo exercise. As we all know, there is nothing worse than horribly aching muscles the day or so after and that can so easily put people off doing more.

So, on Monday I pushed myself a little more, as we did on the rehab course, and actually got all around the block. I felt really great and, even though I walked fairly quickly, I wasn’t too out of breath or wheezy when I got back home.

Unfortunately, and I don’t think it has anything to do with the exercising, I have had a setback today and have not been able to go out. My health is so volatile that I cannot predict how I will feel from one day to the next. So, I could easily feel much better tomorrow and manage to walk the whole block again. Or not. We will see.

As I have stayed in today, we have watched a few TV programmes, including a recorded film: The Numbers Station, starring John Cusack. I love thrillers and this one was better than I expected as it did not have a good rating on the reviewing websites such as Internet Movie Database. So now I am back in bed writing this blog post. When I have finished, as will start my new book. More about my reading in tomorrow’s post.

My outfit today was based around a silk chiffon scarf that I bought a while ago in a Ferragamo sale. It was perhaps not my best choice, but I do wear it from time to time. The background is a very dark navy, with a design of leopards and stylised feathers or leaves. The rolled hem is in burgundy and other colours are brown, beige, camel, orange, and purple. In the collage below the scarf is shown folded in half as it is a rectangle shape. I am wearing it today in a simple twisted knot but didn’t take a modelling shot as it was so gloomy this morning.

  • Navy cotton mix cardigan – Lands’ End.
  • Matching navy short-sleeved cotton mix jumper – Lands’ End.
  • Indigo cotton mix jeans – Cotton Traders.
  • Animal print enamel and gold bangle – Halcyon Days.
  • Gold knot earrings.
  • Leopard and feather silk scarf – Ferragamo. The colours in reality are much more vibrant than in the image.
  • If we had gone out, I would also have worn the boots (Ted and Muffy) and the handbag (Massaccesi).
